The call is a distinctive Coarse 'kra-kra-kra'. Distribution: Diet: In general an omnivourous species opportunistic birds that will also scavenge Diet includes - Invertebrates, Grain, Scraps, Eggs and carrion, in Scotland Some Hooded Crows have even been recorded catching Salmon Smolt on the River Meig. Social Behaviour: Unlike Rooks and Jackdaws, The Hooded crow is a solitary nester, Defending a large territory around the nest site for much of the year. Nests are usually constructed high in a tree, sometimes on a cliff face, building or other structure. Flocks usually consist of immature birds and birds of breeding age lacking a territory. communal roosts are formed in the winter, involving for the most part birds from these floating flocks and sometimes even involving Rooks, Jackdaws and Carrion Crows.
