hippo
camel
rabbit
kangaroo
giraffe
elephant
cow
green iguanas
animals that are herbivores include , deers , horses , zebras , hippos , camels , rabbits , kangaroos , giraffes , elephants , cows and some lizards like green iguanas , herbivores typically have eyes in the back of their head and have flat teeth or no teeth at all like iguanas for example
herbivore teeth [horse]
some herbivores do have large canine teeth however like water deers for example
herbivores with sharp canines like this chinese water deer for example use their teeth for fighting against other animals and their own species , and most of the time the canines are smaller in the females than in the males and sometimes do not exist at all , for insatnce female water deers have no canines at all while the males do have canines.
female water deer
however as a whole most herbivores have flat teeth as opposed to sharp teeth , herbivores tend to eat fruits , vegetables , leaves , nuts , grains , wheat , flowers , seeds , shoots and tree bark , many herbivores do not have the abillty to digest all these foods however for example frugivores , which is a type of herbivore or omnivore , can eat fruit only but cannot digest vegetables or grass for example , the fruit bat is a special type of herbivore called a frugivore that only eats fruit , however most herbivores even grazzers such as horses or zebras can all digest either fruits or vegetables pretty well , herbivores tend to have a PH level in their stomachs of around 5.5-7.1 , many herbivores adapted these weaker stomach acids to digest certain plants like grass and flowers for example , herbivores are classed in their abillty to only be able to get nutrients from plants and not being able to get any nutrients from animals.
here is a list of types of herbivores and what they all eat
frugivore:food source [fruit]:fruit bat
foilivore:food source , [foiliage]:koala bear
grazzers:food source:[grass]:hippos , rhinos , elephants , zebras , horses , cows
granivore:food source [grains and wheat]:capybara
all of these animals mostly eat a certain type of food however depending on the species , can digest another type of food pretty well , for example , although hippos are grazzers they will sometimes eat fruits like watermelons that grow near their water whole.
meat-eating herbivores
their are many examples of herbivores eating meat
deer eats rabbit
hippo eats zebra
rabbit eats fish
cow eats baby bird
all of these animals are herbivores meaning they are desgined to eat plants and not to eat animals , but will sometimes eat meat if given the oppertunity to , many herbivores will swallow small insects while eating plants , all this is not natrual for a herbivore to eat meat , herbivores can digest raw or cooked meat pretty well and have little to no problems doing so but will not obtain any nutrients from the meat.
obligate herbivore
obligate herbivores include , rhinos , zebras , camels , capybara and kangaroos , all of these animals are obligate herbivores and will never eat any kind of meat even if it means they will starve , however many of these animals may swallow small insects by mistake while grazzing or eating other types of plants.
digestive system
rabbit digestive system
herbivore digestive system [rabbit] vs omnivore digestive system [human]
herbivores tend to have very long intestines for digesting plants , herbivores tend to have a intestinal length that is 95-110 times their own body length , while carnivores and omnivores tend to have a intestinal length that is 9-25 times their own intestinal length so plants can pass through easily.
