hello guys , today i am going to be making a blog on why cats are NOT omnivores , despite to what some sources will try to tell you , this is a myth mostly spread but some pet companies , but this is simply false , so today i will be busting the myth , enjoy .
for one we must understand something and that is that cats are predators , in the wild , house cats would not normally consider any kind of vegetation unless starving
as you can see cats prefer meat over any other source , in addtion cats cannot get any nutrients from plants , omnivores such as bears , chimps , pigs , rats and humans all can get nutrients from plants and meat while cats can only get nutrients from meat and not plants . vegetables and fruits or any other source of vegetation can even make your cat sick

feeding your cat veggies has a bunch of downsides , it can make their stomach sick and cause diarrhea and constipation , by comparison when was the last time you ever got a stomach ache or got diarrhea from eating fruits or vegetables or any other type of vegetation? , never because humans are desgined to eat plants , where as cats are not .
now on too intestinal tract , i am going to show a few pictures are you will see what group cats fit in with
house cat intestine
carnivore intestines [meat eater] [tiger intestines]
herbivore intestines [plant eater] [rabbit intestines]
omnivore intestines [plant eater and meat eater] [human intestines]
as you can see cats do fit in perfectly with other carnivores like tigers and not with omnivores such as humans for example and certainly not with herbivores like rabbits .
now lets go to their teeth , i am going to show you a diagram of teeth samples , and you will see which one cats fit in with the most
house cat teeth
carnivore teeth [meat eater ] [tiger]
omnivore teeth [plant eater and meat eater] [human]
herbivore teeth [plant eater] [domestic horse]
as you can see , this chart clearly shows how cats are more simlair to carnivores like tigers than to plant eaters , like omniovres including humans and herbivores like horses.
finally , eye structure , cats have foward facing eyes , now typically meat eaters like carnivores and omnivores have eyes in the front of their head and plant eaters typically have eyes in the back of their head , this is due to the fact animals that are desgined to hunt like carnivores and omnivores need good eye site , to scout out prey and to hunt it.
carnivore [meat eater] [tiger eyes]
domestic cat eyes
herbivore eyes [plant eater] [domestic horse]
omnivore eyes [plant eater and meat eater] [human and chimpanzee eyes]
as you can see by this chart it shows that carnivores and omnivores typically have foward facing eyes , but what does this have to do with cats? well it shows that cats have foward facing eyes for hunting meat , but so do other omnivores i hear you say , but the thing is cats share so much more in comman with carnivores than with herbivores or even omnivores , typically animals that are omnivores share in comman traits with both carnivores and herbivores , like humans for example , humans have sharp canines for eating meat and flat teeth for grinding plant matter , cats have all sharp teeth and no flat teeth , cats share nothing in comman with herbivores , unlike as i said before omnivores share in comman traits of both carnivores and herbivores.
so you can chose to feed your cat like a omnivore but the cats body best opperates as a carnivore .
i hope you guys enjoyed reading this and have a good day , thanks for reading .
