hey , guys , it is a comman misconecption that carnivores [wolves , cats , vampire bats etc] and omnivores [bears , humans , possums , gorillas , chimps , pigs etc] are the only animals that have large canine teeth , today i will show examples of herbivores who have large canine teeth.
water deer
this intresting type of deer uses its large canine teeth to fight other deers and fight off predators , they do not use it to eat meat or any kind of other foods but there are cases of them eating dead animals and even them hunting live rabbits , however biologically they are still herbivores.
camel
a camel is a type of hofted mammal that is a herbivore , it uses its teeth to eat foliage , grasses and other desert plants like thorny plants such as cactus .
it does not eat meat , it only eats plants.
Gelada Baboon
Geladas are the only primates who primarily eat grass – grass blades make up to 90% of their diet. The rest consists of flowers, rhizomes, roots, herbs, small plants, fruits, creepers, bushes and thistles. Insects may be eaten, but only rarely. Geladas use their sharp, two-inch canines to attack rivals or potential predators. most babbons and other monkeys are omnivores but these baboons are herbivores .
hippo
the hippo is a species of hofted mammal that is a herbivore that rarley eats meat , they have been known to eat meat but this makes them sick and they will not get nutrients from it , the largest canines belong to a herbivore , the hippo does not use its canines to eat meat but instead uses them to eat fruits like watermelons , apples and other fruits and vegetables that grow in africa and also uses its teeth to fight with other hippos and against other animals like crocodiles , packs of hyenas and lions .
anyways hope this post was informative and have a goodday.
