some animals that are carnivores include hawks , frogs , lions , wolves , snakes , dolphins , sharks , crocodiles and domestic cats , all of these animals only eat meat and can only get nutrients from meat , typical features of carnivores are foward facing eyes , sharp teeth and powerful stomach acids , these animals need powerful stomach acids to break down nutrients from meats and bloods .carnivores tend to have a PH level of 1.5-3.5 for breaking down meat and getting nutrients from it , this is unlike herbivores who tend to have a PH level of 5.1-8.1 which is rather pretty weak.
carnivore teeth [grey wolf]
as you can see by the shape of this wolves teeth , it has all sharp teeth and no flat teeth , carnivores such as wolves need these teeth for tearing out chunks of meat and for chewing the meat up , their are carnivores with flat teeth like the whale for example but most carnivores have sharp teeth as opposed to flat teeth.
carnivore with flat teeth [whale]
carnivores tend to eat many types of meats including , fish , amphibians , reptiles , eggs , mammals , insects and invertabrates , carnivores tend to prey on herbivores and rarley eat other carnivores however this is not always the case as sharks eat dolphins and lions eat crocodiles from time to time . their are many types of carnivores that obtain nutrients from diffrent sources , here is the list
insectivore:Food[insects and archnids]:shrews , anteaters
scavengers:food source [dead bodies]:hyenas and vultures
diffrent types of carnivores eat diffrent types of foods however all carnivores always eat meat as part of their diet, carnivores have been known to eat some types of vegetation like grasses , vegetables , fruits and leaves from time to time but they cannot obtain nutrients from these foods and may even get sick or throw up from eating these types of foods.
jaguar eats leaves
multiple types of big cats eating watermelon
wolf eats watermelon
as you can see all of these animals are carnivores as they can only obtain nutrients from meats and not plants but will sometimes engage in eating vegetation from time to time .
digestive system
carnivore digestive system [wolf] vs omnivore digestive system [human] vs herbivore digestive system [sheep]
carnivores have a digestive system that is very diffrent from herbivores , carnivores tend to have very short intestines , their intestinal tract is 8-25 greater then their own body length , omnivores have a intestinal length that is 9-35 greater then their own body length and herbivores have a intestinal tract that is 90-110 greater then their own body length , carnivores have short intestines so the animal can get nutrients from the meat and so the meat can pass through quickly and then be pooped out , carnivores have a PH level in their stomach of around 1.5-3.5 which is highly toxic for breaking down and getting nutrients from meat .
